What you can safely check
- Turn the unit OFF and let ice melt with a towel under the drip. Do not chip ice with a knife.

If the coil was filthy, deep cleaning is the job. If the coil was clean and it still ices, think gas and airflow. Running an iced unit ruins compressors.
