A split install is hidden work: indoor level, drain with fall, flared joints, vacuum, then charge to the plate if we are filling a new circuit. That is what stops the new machine dripping into the next apartment six weeks later. Extra pipe beyond a short standard run is extra copper, not a surprise on the last hour.
