Refrigerant is not petrol. A circuit that is down has a hole or a poor history of previous top-ups. We look for the leak, say if it is repairable, then weigh in to the plate on R32 or R410A. R22 is not a normal stock item.
Punching gas into a leaking coil every summer is how you buy a compressor. We will refuse that as a habit. Multi-splits share one outdoor charge — we do not bill four indoor “gas” lines for one circuit.
