After a shamal the outdoor coil can look flocked. Indoor filters go grey in a day if a window was open. Do not run the unit for hours ‘to clear it’ — you are grinding sand through the blower. We rinse outdoors, change/wash filters, and check if the indoor coil ate a load of grit. Inland Al Ain, Khalifa City and desert-edge villas cop this worst. Coastal towers get dust too, just wetter.
